During an Introduction to Coastal Engineering course at the University of Buenos Aires, students took an initial approach to Coastal Oceanography. We conducted a practical application of CoastSat, a software that detects the position of the coastline from satellite images, and WAVERYS, a reanalysis tool that contains global wave data, along the Argentine coast. The case of Punta Rasa, Buenos Aires, Argentina is presented. The students investigated the seasonal and interannual variability, as well as long-term trends of the coastline position. The factors likely driving seasonal variation are variations in significant wave height and direction. This was a positive experience, emphasizing the importance of global public access data and collaboration with products from different countries. This poster was presented as part of the 2024 January Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Meeting held virtually (Jan 23-26, 2024).
