My high school students have lots of opinions, rarely supported by facts. Every other Wednesday during the school year, my students and I went to our school library to learn and explore various questions posed using a variety of data bases. Students had contests and awards were given for their research techniques and finding the information. At the end of each session, our class reflected on the power of data in making decisions and having ideas or a claim with evidence and ate Krispy Kreme donuts. It was a fun, engaging and new lesson eat week and students enjoyed it. This presentation was given at the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Summer Meeting held online in July 2020.
