Centralization of services offers opportunities to attain efficiencies and consolidate resources for the benefit of both contributors and consumers. SEDAC, the NASA Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center, has been actively collaborating with the NASA Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) project to migrate the SEDAC website to the Earthdata website, as one of the DAACs that is participating in the first phase of the Earthdata web unification effort. As an early collaborator on the Earthdata unification effort, SEDAC aspires to contribute in a timely manner to the continuing trustworthiness of ESDIS and the DAACs and to the capabilities and services that will be offered to the communities of users served by all of the DAACs. SEDAC also recognizes the opportunity to address challenges that arise, such as facilitating usability, so that such issues can be identified and met, enabling diverse communities to use the data products and services available from ESDIS and the DAACs. As a result of these initial website migration efforts, SEDAC Data products and tools are currently available through the Earthdata website, with more resources and additional improvements expected to become available in the near future as progress continues.
