•Collaboration at national, regional and international levels is essential – hyper-partnering, radical sharing;

•Broad, open data policies must be further advanced to leverage existing and planned investments in Earth observations and geospatial data;

•Tremendous accomplishments last 50 yrs with terrestrial observations from space; and

•Progress in atmospheric observations could serve as a model for terrestrial observations, to achieve true Earth system modeling for societal benefit.
